The suitability of all beams must be checked by a structural engineer. Any other course of action would be negligent and extremely dangerous.

On larger projects the cost can be consolidated down and typically will be much less than the sum of its parts. Please ask for a quote if you have multiple selections from above.

Beam cost

From the table above get the beam code, for example 178x102x19.

The three numbers represent the beams properties. height x width x weight per meter in kilograms. So the beam above is 178 mm  high, 102 mm wide and weighs 19 kg per meter of beam.

Get the total weight of the beam by multiplying the length in meters by the last number in the code, for example if this beam was 3 meters long, you would times 3 by 19, which gives 57, so the total weight of the beam is 57 kg.

Steel prices at the moment are around £3 per kg. So times the weight by 3 would give you the price in pounds. 57 x 3 = £ 171

This is a rough guide only and steel prices have fluctuated a great deal in the last few years. There will also be delivery cost to consider and any finishes for example shot blast and primer.
